BREAKING NEWS : Philadelphia Phillies ‘Frozen’ After Disappointing MLB Trade Deadline

The Philadelphia Phillies roster is currently performing at a poor level, and after little was done to remedy it at the MLB trade deadline, fans are becoming concerned.
Following what many saw as a disappointing MLB trade deadline, the Philadelphia Phillies have continued to struggle on the field.

According to Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly, the Phillies can be described as ‘frozen.'”[Philadelphia] added relievers Carlos Estévez and Tanner Banks, as well as outfielder Austin Hays, before the trade deadline. Ultimately, Bryce Harper was correct when he declared, “The superstars have to show up,” according to Kelly. “While it’s hardly time to panic, the Phillies have gone 3-9 since

All-Star Break, and went 10-14 in July. In Harper’s words, they must ‘cowboy up.'” For months, there was much conjecture about Philadelphia adding some key players around the trade deadline.

Players like Luis Robert Jr., Tanner Scott, and even competitor Cody Bellinger were frequently mentioned by media and fans alike. While Carlos Estevez, Tanner Banks, and Austin Hays may theoretically work out in the second part of the season, it felt more like a band-aid than anything substantial.

The Phillies’ bullpen has been dismal of late. Their staff ERA over the last 30 days is 6.14. That ranks all the way down at No. 27 in the MLB in that.

span. They did trade away two of the main culprits of that performance, Seranthony Dominguez and Gregory Soto. Jose Alvarado has been worse than those two, and Matt Strahm has not been much better. Estevez has come in to try to smooth things out while on an extraordinary hot streak. Will he be enough? Banks, their second addition, is unlikely to make a significant impact either way.

Losing Tanner Scott could cost Philadelphia more down the stretch than they realize.

The offense’s fortunes worsen as the season progresses.

Hays was the main answer to their outfield inconsistency, and he’s hit just.234/.289/.362 in the last month.

He bats effectively against left-handed pitchers, which was a major need down the stretch, but he is another player who contributes little to help the team.

Still, despite the poor deadline, it will be up to the stars to turn things around. The Phillies were not a team that lacked star players to begin with. It’s just difficult to compete when that talent begins to play poorly and nothing is done to improve the squad significantly.
