LATEST NEWS: An elite player set to join Tamworth FC

Fleetwood Town can report that George Morrison, a talented midfielder, has signed a season-long loan with Tamworth, a National League team.

After spending last year away from the Fylde Coast, Morrison, a second-year professional at Fleetwood, is going to be sent out on loan for the 2024–2025 season in order to pick up more vital experience.

The midfielder will be seeking to expand on his 36 league games in the National League format after a very successful season on loan at King’s Lynn Town last season. This season will be a step up for the Scottish Youth International.

With George presumably having a major role in their season, Tamworth, who won the National League North title the previous year, will be expecting for a strong campaign in their return to the fifth division of English football after a successful preseason.

Jack Higgins, the academy manager for Town, stated: “George’s loan move is incredibly exciting. We feel that after his highly successful loan move to King’s Lynn last season, he is now beginning his career in men’s and senior football.

“As an Academy, we have a great working relationship with Adam Lakeland [King’s Lynn Town Manager], who has previously taken some of our young guys on loan. We are grateful to him for believing in George at the age of just 17 and giving him a chance to succeed to perform.

“We now believe Tamworth is the right Club for George to continue to develop. George seized the opportunity last season and it turned out to be a very successful one, picking up Young Player of the Season award at King’s Lynn.”

“We’re hoping he can play regular football. If the numbers line up, he’ll be the youngest player in the National League the following season. We’re excited to watch his progress over the next ten months.”
