JUST IN: How Detroit Lions fans impressed Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay

Before falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game in 2023, the Detroit Lions had a strong season. The Los Angeles Rams were their first opponent en route to that game; the Lions defeated them 24-23 in the Wild Card Round.

As might be expected, the game was the first-ever playoff game at Ford Field, and the Lions faithful turned out in force. They were so impressive, in fact, that Rams head coach Sean McVay was impressed.

In a recent interview with the ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast, McVay said he was astounded by how boisterous the Lions’ fan base was and that the environment at Ford Field was superior to that of the New Orleans Saints’ stadium, where the Rams were required to play during the 2018

playoffs.

Regarding the Caesars Superdome, McVay remarked, “But that was the loudest, by far.” “It was much louder in Detroit. It was ill. It was a sick environment. Detroit deserves credit, and my dad truly enjoyed it. On the pitch, they were already in action. About an hour before kickoff, I arrived, and the stands were packed. “I heard these guys, these people booing their ass off at somebody,” my father remarked. I observed you leaving. It was so amusing, he was laughing. Everyone is talking to me and booing. It was excellent. I cherished it.

There is extra excitement for every NFL playoff game, but Lions fans were especially excited about the one versus the Rams because it was the team’s

first postseason match since the 2016 season and the first playoff game played at home since the 1993 campaign.

Last season, the Lions made it to the postseason and won two games at home before falling to San Francisco away. Given that Ford Field is undoubtedly a difficult venue to play in, Detroit should be able to secure home-field advantage throughout the 2024 playoffs.
