Paul Mullin sends message to his Wrexham replacement after an amazing 3-2 win over Wycombe.

Paul Mullin missed the first game of Wrexham’s League One campaign, as the Red Dragons scored an amazing 3-2 win over Wycombe.
What happened?
What made Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side’s triumph even more amazing was the absence of dangerous striker Mullin due to back surgery, and the Welshman’s replacement, Jack Marriott, played an important role in securing the three points.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mullin missed Wrexham’s whole pre-season tour of America and was unable to return in time to play in his team’s first League One game in 19 years. His substitute, Jack Marriott, filled the Welshman’s vacuum admirably, hitting a magnificent volley for the Red Dragons’ second goal of the game. He demonstrated great link-up play with Ollie Palmer as Wrexham had an impressive League One debut.

WHAT MULLIN SAID:

Mullin appeared to agree that this was a solid start to their campaign, and he praised Marriott on his Instagram account.

Mullin commented, “What a wonderful start to the season!! What a goal, @jackmarriott14!”

What is next for Mullin and Wrexham?
Despite Marriott’s strike, Mullin is anticipated to return to the starting lineup after he has recovered from surgery. Manager Phil Parkinson will hope Marriott continues in this spirit while Wrexham attempt to make a statement in League One this season, as their Hollywood narrative continues.
