Portsmouth manager John Mousinho claims he’s “not done yet” in the transfer market as he tries to strengthen his Championship squad.

The Blues will kick off their season on Saturday against Leeds at Elland Road, but Mousinho believes his squad will not be complete until closer to the transfer deadline.

“Yes, the seasons begin in days, but the window closes at the end of August,” Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent.

“There is still plenty of time for us to bring players in; but, we must focus on the near term and ensure we can get results.

“It’s a really fine balance, but there’s still lots in the pipeline, so we’re not done yet,

We are exploring a few ideas.”Mousinho keen to add to Pompey squad - Yahoo Sports

The head coach mentioned a certain market that may become available to him as the window progressed.

As the Premier League and Championship seasons begin over the next two weeks, fringe and academy players will discover more about their prospects and whether they will need to search elsewhere for playing time.

“The big thing for us this summer is finding the balance between waiting long enough for the player we want and taking what is already available,” says Mousinho.

“When we have said no to a player so far, it has come down to the fact that we believe that person is not making us stronger, and we do not want to bring in the wrong guys.

“We’re very focused though and feel we are prepared to start the season and also across the full 46 games which are of equal importance.”
