Philadelphia is battling with some injuries. The Philadelphia Eagles made three roster changes on Saturday morning, ahead of their last week of training camp. Rookie offensive tackle Gottlieb Ayedze, who has had an eventful summer with the Birds, was re-signed; experienced cornerback Tyler Hall was placed on the reserve/injured list; and second-year defensive back Mekhi Garner was waived/injured.
Hall, who is entering his fifth season in the NFL, joined the Eagles this offseason after spending two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, one year with the Los Angeles Rams, and one year with the Atlanta Falcons. He has appeared in 30 games (six starts) and has 32 tackles (22 solo), one sack, and four passes defended over his career. He has largely played.
in the slot and on special teams. If he is not later released from IR with an injury settlement, he will be there for the rest of the season.
Garner, a second-year defensive back out of LSU, appeared in three games for Philadelphia last season but spent the majority of his time on the practice squad. He was banged up in training camp this season and was already facing a difficult road to making the final roster, so this move is not surprising.
The final move was to bring back rookie offensive lineman Ayedze to provide depth in the trenches. After the 2024 NFL Draft, Philadelphia signed Ayedze as an undrafted free agent and invited him to training camp to compete for a roster spot. However, due to an unexplained ailment, Ayedze was waived by the squad following the second training camp session this summer.
Ayedze, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 308 pounds, was named honourable mention All-Big Ten at Maryland after shining at D-II Frostburg State during his senior season. He can play numerous positions along the offensive line, and now that he appears to be healthy, the Eagles want to have another look at him in practice before facing the Minnesota Vikings.
during their final preseason game.
Tyler Steen suffered/aggravated an ankle injury against the New England Patriots on Thursday, thus the Birds may be looking for a versatile backup offensive tackle.
