JUST IN : Jack Marriott issues ‘difficult’ warning to Wrexham ahead of Bolton Wanderers clash

Wrexham resume their League One campaign with a match against Bolton Wanderers.

Phil Parkinson will return to The Toughsheet Community Stadium in the opposing dugout on Sunday. The current Wrexham manager had a successful spell with the club, including promotion to the Championship.

The 56-year-old will look to replicate his success with the Red Dragons in 2024/25.

Wrexham faced Wycombe Wanderers on the first day of the League One season and made an excellent start to life in England’s third tier.

The Welsh team went ahead 1-0 at the Racecourse Ground after only nine minutes, before Jack Marriott struck a goal of the season contender to increase the home side’s lead.

Wycombe scored two late goals in an attempt to mount a comeback, but Steven Fletcher came off the substitute to score a third for Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

However, on Sunday, August 18th, Wrexham will face a much more difficult challenge. Jack Marriott has issued a warning to Wrexham ahead of their match against Bolton Wanderers. However, Bolton was one of the top teams in the division previous season, finishing third and only five points behind Derby County.

If Wrexham are to continue their climb up the football league ladder, they must produce positive results against teams such as Bolton.

However, according to Leader Live, Marriott has warned that League One is’very difficult’ and that Wrexham should not get ahead of themselves.

He stated, “We wanted to get that first win; it was so important on the first day.”

“We got the three points and moved on to the next game.” It’s a long season, and this division is quite challenging.

“There will be many games like the one against Wycombe, but hopefully we will win.

“We cannot get carried away. We’re glad we gained the points; it may be an old cliche, but we have to take it game by game.”

Can Wrexham Win Promotion This Season?
Wrexham fans have grown accustomed to dominating every category in which they compete.

Parkison has led the Welsh team to consecutive promotions, and a third would be a significant accomplishment.

And, after winning on the first day, Wrexham fans are likely to anticipate their team to finish in the top three again this season.

However, while the Red Dragons have made some wise additions this summer, the jump to League One is considerably more significant.

Birmingham City, for example, spent a lot of money after being relegated from the Championship, and they will most certainly finish higher than Wrexham in 2024/25.

Parkinson has already made seven signings this summer, and more may follow. However, it remains to be seen whether his group is capable of mounting a successful promotion push.

Given where Bolton finished the previous season, Sunday’s encounter should provide a good indication of how Wrexham will fare this season.
