The Las Vegas Aces are facing allegations of reprisal.
Dearica Hamby, a forward for the Las Vegas Aces, said she and her husband were expecting their second child in September 2022 during their championship parade.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon charged Hamby in January 2023 of “not taking proper precautions not to get pregnant.”
The Los Angeles Sparks acquired Dearica Hamby from the Aces in May of that same year. The former Spurs assistant claimed that it was done to create space for Candance Parker to be signed.
“We needed to add three more individuals, therefore we decided to move Hamby as we could fit three bodies under her one contract. I believe it’s clear why we joined with them
We took the action.

Hamby claimed in her federal discrimination complaint against the WNBA and the Las Vegas Aces that the league had not conducted a sufficient investigation and that the Aces had traded her because she was pregnant.
One problem is that Becky Hammon has not denied that the transaction contributed to Hamby’s pregnancy.
The WNBA docked the Aces their first-round 2025 draft pick and suspended Hammon for two games without pay in May 2023 for “bullying and manipulating” Hamby because of her pregnancy. It was the first draft pick ever taken by the league from a team.
Hamby said the league did not punish players harshly enough on
the Aces, prompting her most recent filing.
