Yerson Mosquera sends message to Wolves fans after making Premier League debut in Arsenal defeat

Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera posted a message to fans after making his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

Wolves’ season began with a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, although they performed admirably overall. Wanderers would usually struggle to pick up points in north London. Arsenal are anticipated to compete for the title again this season, with many predicting they will win ahead of Manchester City.

However, Wolves performed well in the capital and had some promising possession spells. Wolves had been swatted away in past encounters against Arsenal, but not on Saturday.

The performance of Wolves’ defender Yerson Mosquera was arguably the biggest positive of the day for Gary O’Neil.

Yerson Mosquera delivers a 10-word statement on Instagram following his entertaining debut for Wolves against Arsenal. Mosquera is perhaps the player on the team that many Wolves supporters are most excited to see this season.

The Colombia international joined the club three years ago, but has been forced to wait for his Premier League debut after suffering a serious hamstring injury shortly after signing.

He spent 2023 on loan with FC Cincinnati before joining Villarreal for the second half of 2023/24. Mosquera impressed at both clubs, and on Saturday, he started Wolves’ Premier League debut.

He played in a back four with Toti Gomes as his partner.

Mosquera played with confidence in the back, and Toti may have looked more like a debutant.

Mosquera used the ball well and got stuck in. The combative teenager performed admirably against Kai Havertz in particular, and he now has a good chance of keeping his place and starting against Chelsea.

The 23-year-old took to social media after the game against Arsenal to write a message to supporters, which read: “Let’s turn the page and prepare

“For the next game.” So Wolves lost their first game, as most fans would have expected against a strong side.

However, there were some positives to take away, namely Mosquera’s performance. He was quite remarkable.

It must have been difficult to make his debut against a team like Arsenal at the Emirates, but Mosquera never looked out of place, and as previously noted, Toti appeared to be the rookie on the day, not Mosquera.

There was a reason O’Neil wanted to retain him around for this season, and it already looks like it will be the right decision by the manager.
