Brian Kelly and the Bayou Bengals acquire a commitment from 2025 tight ends. Mike Tyler, continue your incredible summer on the trail.Columbia (S.C.), Hammond School tight end Mike Tyler announced on social media on Saturday that he has committed to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.
The South Carolina native visited Baton Rouge twice this summer, with Kelly and his team stepping up their pursuit of the versatile weapon following a June trip. After camping with the Tigers throughout the summer, the program was intrigued with the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder, and invited him to attend the Bayou Splash recruiting event at the end of July.
He soon became a talent to keep an eye on, with the LSU coach seeing the three-star prospect as a standout in the 2025 cycle.
Down the long, it was an LSU versus. Duke struggle, with the Tigers eventually emerging victorious for the talented tight end. Tyler’s junior performance put him on the map, and programs on the East Coast offered him scholarships.
He recorded 33 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns, demonstrating his versatility as a receiving and blocking tight end.
Tyler now has offers from over 20 institutions, including LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Wake Forest, among others.
LSU increased its pursuit of the Columbia, South Carolina native despite already having a commitment from Louisiana’s top tight end, JD LaFleur. The idea is to create a two-tight end class by 2025, with Tyler joining LaFleur.
Now, all eyes are on the Early Signing Period in December, when LSU’s mammoth 2025 Recruiting Class hopes to put pen to paper.
LSU currently has the No. 3 overall 2025 recruiting class, led by Bryce Underwood (No. 1 quarterback), Harlem Berry (No. 1 running back), and DJ Pickett (No. 1 cornerback).
Kelly and Co. are putting together a well-balanced squad that will place the program in a strong position for the future.
Tyler is commitment number 23 in the 2025 class, as the Tigers look to add more talent to the current cycle as quickly as possible.
