LATEST UPDATE : Barnsley are now leading Wigan Athletic in transfer race to sign 23-year-old striker

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Barnsley and Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Bradford City forward Jake Young.

The 23-year-old forward has been with the Bantams since 2022, but has only made 18 appearances so far. Now that he is back at the Bantams, League One clubs are showing interest in the Bradford City striker.

Crawley Town and Stevenage have already tested the waters with Bradford City for Young.

Young spent the season on loan at League Two side Swindon Town, where he scored 20 goals in 29 league appearances.

Wigan Athletic and Barnsley are reportedly vying for Young’s signature.

The Bantams are interested in Latics midfielder Joe Adams, which might lead to a trade with Wigan Athletic for Young. Wigan Athletic lost their first two league games without scoring a single goal.

It remains to be seen whether either of the prospective League One clubs can sign Young before the end of the month.
