What Wolves captain Mario Lemina said to his teammates after opening-day defeat to Arsenal

Despite Wolves’ opening-day defeat to Arsenal, Mario Lemina is ‘proud’ of his teammates.Gary O’Neil’s side dominated the second half in pursuit of an equaliser before being pegged back by Bukayo Saka’s strike.

The new skipper believed his side deserved more than a 2-0 defeat when the 2024/25 Premier League season began. Lemina stated, “We anticipated it was going to be a tremendously hard game. “They are currently one of the top teams in the world.”They’re performing incredibly well, and I believe we had the opportunity to make the games more difficult for them.

 

“We recovered some balls in their half, but we did not generate as much as we had hoped.

“I’m incredibly delighted with our performance, and we deserved a little

Rodrigo Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen made their Wolves debuts this weekend after joining the club over the summer.

And Lemina has encouraged them to add talent to the Wolves’ ranks.

“They’re really strong players and that’s what we were missing last year,” Lemina replied.

“They’re quite good. They want to cooperate with us. They’ll be better in the future games. We believe in them. They’re quite good, and I’m proud “So far.”
