The Hudson County Regional crash Investigation Unit is probing a two-car crash that killed three persons and injured three more. Please continue to avoid Paterson Plank Road between Jersey City and Hoboken throughout the morning commute. There were five people in the BMW. Two of the passengers were killed. The remaining three people in the SUV were sent to the hospital. One suffered critical injuries.

Police have not revealed the likely reason of the crash.

Paterson Plank Road, a county road, reopened hours later.

According to a Hudson County official, various safety measures, such as rumble strips, were recently installed. The county is also considering a median in the middle.

“Insufficient safety improvements were made to address the hundreds of crashes that have been recorded on this corridor in the last few years,” Hudson County Complete Streets’ Emmanuelle Morgen stated.

Morgen, a safe streets advocate, stated that the section of road was recognised in a recent report as having a greater crash rate than comparable Hudson County roadways.

“This is, unfortunately, another wake-up call. “And we’re awake,” Morgen stated.

“Narrowing the lanes encourages drivers to be more careful behind the wheel. And when you do that, you can incorporate other safety features, such as bike lanes and possibly bigger sidewalks’, said Colin DeVries of Safe Streets Jersey City.

Advocates believe it is time for a thorough safety makeover of the route.

Police say the inquiry is still ongoing.

Long-time locals told CBS New York’s Nick Caloway that speeding is a major issue along this section of road.

“I tell everyone that this is battle driving around here. This is quite risky. Cars are too fast and powerful. “Kids drive too fast,” Union City resident Jay Schlesinger stated. “It does not surprise me…” I awoke this morning, heard helicopters, and knew something.

“I was awake.” According to safety advocates, this section need significant improvement.
