Leicester City Eye Bilal El Khannouss: A Prospective Master of Midfield
Leicester City has their sights set on Bilal El Khannouss, one of Belgian football’s most promising players, as they endeavour to bolster the roster prior to the transfer deadline. Leicester and KRC Genk are reportedly negotiating over a possible transfer for the 20-year-old midfielder, who has already been compared to Luka Modric. But hiring him won’t come cheap; Genk is asking for at least £17 million for the imaginative playwright.

Leicester City has begun to make moves in the summer transfer window following a slow start. The club’s intention to bolster their roster for the next difficulties is signalled by the additions of Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace for £8 million and Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur for £20 million. El Khannouss’s potential is well demonstrated by such high praise, and it’s understandable why Leicester are interested. Belgium Under-19 coach Wesley Sonck also sees the similarities with Modric but believes El Khannouss could thrive in a deeper midfield role. “I think he can become absolutely world-class there (in a deeper midfield position),” Sonck told Extra Time. “When I see guys like Luka Modric playing, I also see a bit of El Khannouss.”
