Scott Frost, a former Nebraska football coach, has been hired as a senior football commentator by the Los Angeles Rams, according to Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated. Frost has not held a coaching position since being sacked by Nebraska on September 11, 2022.
According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic (subscription required), Frost will serve in a variety of areas, including special teams, where the Rams currently have a vacancy. She also adds that Frost spent time with the Rams during OTAs and training camp, and that the transfer had been planned for several days.
Frost was Nebraska’s coach from 2018 to 2022, and his tenure was turbulent. He finished his career at Lincoln with a 16-31 record, including a 10-26 record in the Big Ten. The former quarterback excelled at UCF before returning home, leading the Knights to a 13-0 season in 2017.
Frost had a very successful playing career at Nebraska during the 1996 and 1997 seasons. He was a member of the 1997 National Championship team and finished his Husker career with 3,147 throwing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
He also ran the football well, carrying the ball 355 times for 1,789 yards and 30 touchdowns over two seasons. He played in the NFL for five years before becoming a coach.
Despite the fact that his coaching career at Nebraska ended poorly, he remains an important part of Cornhusker history. His new role will allow him to learn from one of the NFL’s top head coaches, hopefully preparing him for future success.
