BREAKING NEWS : Agent Confirms Warriors Interest in Former $80 Million Sharpshooter

The Golden State Warriors’ frontcourt will include more shooting. The Warriors are interested in free agent Davis Bertans, according to his agent, Arturs Kalnitis, who verified on Instagram.

Kalnitis stated the following about Bertans.

“Davis Bertans will prepare for the upcoming season together with the (Golden State Warriors), good luck in the Bay Area, DB.” Kalnitis did not elaborate on the Warriors’ view on Bertans. They may offer him a veteran’s minimum contract or a training camp deal. Bertans might be the newest addition to their roster of new players.

Golden State has strengthened its rotation by signing Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson. Bertans might be another useful asset, if all goes perfectly.

Bertans was originally signed to a five-year, $80 million contract in 2020. Because his last year was partially guaranteed for $5.2 million, the Charlotte Hornets waived him.Sources: Dāvis Bertāns invited to work out for Warriors; no camp invite – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Davis Bertans Gives Golden State More Floor Space.
Bertans has built a reputation as a big player who can space the floor since his NBA debut. Bertans had his best season as a player in 2019-20 with the Washington Wizards.

Bertans averaged 15.4 points per game and shot 42.4% from three. Bertans also attempted an average of 8.7 three-pointers per game. Because of his performance, the Wizards extended his contract the following offseason.

During his half-season with the Hornets, he regained his former form. Bertans averaged 8.8 points per game over 28 games, shooting 37.5% from three on 6.3 attempts from distance.Davis BERTANS (LAT)'s profile - FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - FIBA.basketball

Bertans will most likely be used less by the Warriors than by the Wizards in the past. However, his three-point shooting might be extremely beneficial to them. The Warriors have benefited from having large men who can spread the floor like him. Before Bertans, they had Marreese Speights and Otto Porter Jr., who provided them with adequate floor space for their size. More importantly, having that at their disposal allowed them to win championships. While Bertans’ title dreams aren’t at stake, he may help the Warriors return to the playoffs.

Insider confirms Davis Bertans’ situation with Golden State.
Following Kulnitis’ announcement that Bertans would resume his career in Golden State, NBA Insider Marc Stein provided comprehensive facts on Bertans’ status with the Warriors via his X account.

“Dāvis Bertāns has been invited to work out for the Warriors as Golden State determines whether to extend a training camp invite to the Latvian sharpshooter,” Stein said.
