Former Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Johnson has a message for the underserved group. While no one doubts George Pickens, Van Jefferson, and their teammates can do the job, the old AFC North foe is making it clear that they must step up.

“You make some noise, I’m gonna know who you are,” Johnson remarked on an edition of his podcast Nightcap, which is co-hosted by Shannon Sharpe. “I am not being disrespectful; I want Russ to succeed. Despite the fact that he plays in the AFC North, I want to speak out for him. I’d like to say s*** to [Sharpe]. I’d like to speak with Stephen A. Smith, who recently railed against Wilson.Chad Johnson Sends Strong Message to Pittsburgh Steelers WRs

“I need whoever the receivers are, outside of George Pickens, that are with Pittsburgh, I need you to step up and show the f*** out, please.”

While Pickens has plenty of potential and many envision his grandeur as a wide receiver, the rest of the group has been looked down on. on. Jefferson is regarded as the second best player in the NFL, although he has failed to find success in recent seasons. Calvin Austin is starting his third season after doing nothing to impress in his sophomore year. And with freshman Roman Wilson missing the entire preseason, no one knows what to expect from the Michigan star. All of this adds to the questions about Wilson’s quarterbacking abilities. But, with the first game approaching, the team and their quarterback have an opportunity to assuage a lot of doubt. Week one in Atlanta could help Johnson make his case to those who want to shut up.
