Buffalo, New York — According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Buffalo Bills are adding to their quarterback room by signing Mike White to the practice squad.
White, who met with the Bills at their facilities on Tuesday before signing as a free agency, will join his third AFC East team in three seasons. He was most recently with the Miami Dolphins, but lost out to Skylar Thompson for the backup role behind Tua Tagovailoa and was released on August 25.
Last season, White, 29, played six games as the Dolphins’ backup quarterback, completing five of six passes for 74 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
As of now, he will be the Bills’ third quarterback.
Due to a spate of injuries, the organisation signed Ben DiNucci and Anthony Brown for the preseason, but both were released this week. The only quarterbacks on the active roster are Josh Allen and backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who is suffering with a left knee ailment.
Quarterback Shane Buechele, who was on the Bills’ practice squad last season, is on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury in the first preseason game. The team normally has two quarterbacks on the active roster and one on the practice squad.
White, a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, started seven games and appeared in eight more for the New York Jets in 2021 and 2022, including two starts against the Buffalo Bills. He completed 62.2% of his throws for the Jets, totalling 2,145 yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
