This summer, the Addicks welcomed newcomers to The Valley, but Nathan Jones may be looking for more.
Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has revealed that he ‘would like’ to add more quality to his Addicks side by taking advantage of the free agent market.
The London club worked hard to complete its business early in the summer transfer season, thus Deadline Day was quite quiet for them. Charlton Athletic signed nine players throughout the market in an attempt to avoid another relegation dogfight this season.
So far, it appears that the Addicks could challenge at the opposite end of the division. Last weekend’s devastating defeat to Reading was only the first of the season, with Jones’ team winning their first three games.

Clubs can still sign free agents after the window closes, as long as there is room in the squad to register them.
When asked about the free transfer market, Jones said, “We’ll see what we can do.” We have had a good window. We have dramatically reinforced our team. We’d like to keep adding greater quality. We understand that we cannot compete with certain people, and so on. But it has been a good window. We’ve brought in people who have greatly benefited us.”Greg Docherty and Luke Berry, both on free transfers this summer, have already made an impression on the first team. Will Mannion, a custodian, also joined as a free agent after his contract with Cambridge United expired.
Charlton Athletic’s next game is on Saturday against Rotherham United, which has been confirmed to go ahead despite the international break.
