Jack Driscoll has returned to the Philadelphia Eagles after spending the previous four NFL seasons there.
The former Auburn offensive tackle has been added to the Philadelphia practice squad, the NFL franchise announced on Tuesday.
Driscoll joined the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and appeared in 54 regular-season and four playoff games, making 17 starts. He departed Philadelphia in free agency on March 18 and signed a one-year, $1.79 million contract with the Miami Dolphins, which included a $400,000 signing bonus and $900,000 in guaranteed money.
However, on August 28, after surviving the preseason-to-regular-season cut with Miami, Driscoll was released by the Dolphins, who had claimed former Park Crossing High School standout Grant DuBose on waivers and wanted to make room for the wide receiver.
During his first stint with the Eagles, Driscoll was mostly a backup to five-time Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson. In 2023, all but eight of Driscoll’s 172 offensive snaps occurred in three games when Johnson was injured. Driscoll started at right tackle four times in 2020, once in 2021, twice in 2022, and once in 2023. He also started eight games as a right guard in 2021 and one at left tackle in 2022.
Driscoll returns to the Eagles with a new role on his portfolio. Driscoll started the Dolphins’ first and third preseason games at centre.
Each NFL team can have a practice squad of 16 players (17 if it has an International Pathway player). Practice squad members work the same as active-roster players, but they are not eligible to play in games – with one exception. Each NFL team can promote two practice squad players to active status for each game.
The Eagles begin their 2024 season against the Green Bay Packers at 7:15 p.m. CDT on Friday in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Peacock will broadcast the game.
Another former Auburn offensive lineman appeared on the NFL’s transactions report on Tuesday: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released undrafted rookie Avery Jones from their practice squad.
