JUST IN : conditions under which Courtney Morgan agreed to sign a new deal

Following a summer approach from USC, Alabama football general manager Courtney Morgan accepted a new, historic deal with the Crimson Tide, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday night.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, Morgan will make an average of $825,000 annually, solidifying his status as the highest-paid front office figure in college football.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees will formally ratify the new contract on Tuesday, but sources tell ESPN that the revised agreement has been in place for some time.

The first to report on Morgan’s revised compensation amounts was 247Sports.

Morgan, the general manager responsible for Washington’s 2024 national runner-up position, is one of the fastest-rising stars in the rapidly expanding front office and personnel arena of college football.

After working with Kalen DeBoer for the previous two seasons at Washington, Morgan followed the 49-year-old coach to Alabama earlier this year when the Crimson Tide selected DeBoer to take Nick Saban’s position. The former employee of Michigan, San Jose State, and Fresno State has played a pivotal role in putting together a 2025 recruiting class that now ranks second nationally in ESPN’s most recent cycle team rankings.

People all throughout the nation are interested in Morgan because of his accomplishment. Sources tell ESPN that DeBoer acted swiftly to guarantee Morgan’s future in Tuscaloosa, securing a market-smashing extension, following USC’s attempt to hire Morgan this summer for a comparable personnel post.

Morgan’s original contract with Alabama, which was finalised in February, had a basic salary of $500,000. His new contract is the most recent large investment in football’s front office.

Earlier this summer, ESPN’s Jake Trotter revealed that James Blanchard, the general manager of Texas Tech, had been awarded a new, two-year deal earning a total of $800,000.
