According to Football Insider, Ipswich Town are in early talks with Sheffield United about signing centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The Premier League newcomers have moved ahead of Wolves in the race to recruit the 25-year-old. The Molineux club had been struggling to raise the finances to complete their summer transfer business, and Ipswich has now jumped ahead of them in the hunt for Ahmedhodzic.
Ahmedhodzic, a Bosnia and Herzegovina international, has played 90 minutes in both Sheffield United’s Championship games this season.
He was also a regular for the Blades last season, when they finished at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Ipswich have moved ahead of Wolves in the race for Sheffield United star.
The 25-year-old made 30 starts in 32 outings in the top level and frequently donned the captain’s armband during the season.
Ahmedhodzic’s contract at Bramall Lane runs until June 2026, and he has made 24 appearances for his country, scoring once.
Ipswich have made nine additions this summer, including the permanent arrival of Omari Hutchinson and a loan move for Kalvin Phillips.
Chelsea’s Armando Broja is likely to join Kieran McKenna’s side, while it is understood they have opened the bidding for Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.
McKenna’s side fell 2-0 to Liverpool on the first day of the Premier League season and will face Manchester City away on Saturday (August 24).
