Stephen Curry inks a one-year agreement with the Warriors at a reported $62.6 million.
Golden State’s top guard has inked an agreement that will keep him with the franchise until the 2026-27 season.
Stephen Curry’s time with the Golden State Warriors will be much longer.
The Warriors’ star and previous Kia NBA MVP has signed a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday. The deal, worth an estimated $62.6 million, will keep him with the team until the 2026–27 season. Curry is guaranteed $178 million over the next three years of his Warriors contract, and he is set to sign his extension today, according to ESPN.
Curry’s contract extension comes just three years after he signed a four-year, $215 million extension, the second $200 million-plus deal in his career, which includes four NBA championships, two Kia NBA MVP awards, and innumerable records in team and league history.
Curry is now guaranteed nearly $178 million over the next three seasons: $55.8 million this season, $59.6 million in 2025-26, and now about $62.6 million — the highest the Warriors can offer per league rule — in 2026-27.
When the season finishes, Curry’s on-court earnings will be around $532 million, which is currently second only to LeBron James’ $580 million in player contracts.
Last season, Curry averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 45% overall and 40.8% from three. He topped the NBA in clutch scoring and won the 2023-24 Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year title. He topped the league in key crucial categories, including points (189), 3-pointers (32) and field goals made (59), shooting 49.6% from the field, 45.7% from three, and 39 of 41 from the free throw line (95.1%).
Curry’s 15th season with the team included his 10th All-Star appearance. He is the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers (made and attempted) and was named Finals MVP in 2022 after leading Golden State to their most recent championship.
Golden State is entering a new era in 2024-25 after Curry’s long-time “Splash Bros.” teammate, Klay Thompson, left for the Dallas Mavericks in free agency this summer in a sign-and-trade agreement. Draymond Green, a pivotal figure throughout the Curry and Thompson eras, will be on the team this season as it looks to build around young players Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
