West Ham United already have Aaron Cresswell replacement in their ranks amid contract development

Ollie Scarles could be Aaron Cresswell’s long-term replacement at West Ham after a contract update emerged on the academy gem.

ExWHUemployee reported via the West Ham Way website on 12 September that the club have been working on a new deal for the 18-year-old.

The West Ham news source reported that the youngster has signed a new four-year deal in East London with the option of a fifth, with an announcement due in the “next week or so”.

The England Under-18 international could prove to be an alternative for Cresswell at the London Stadium moving forward, with the long-serving 34-year-old out of contract at the end of the season and acting mainly as understudy to Emerson Palmieri.

Ollie Scarles could replace Aaron Cresswell at West Ham

The club have been taking a positive approach to their academy graduates which started with Lewis Orford agreeing to a new deal earlier this month.

After losing Divin Mubama to Manchester City earlier during the window, it appears that the Irons have learned their lesson.

It is massively positive to see Scarles sign a contract at the London Stadium with the 18-year-old having the opportunity to replace the potentially outbound Cresswell.

The left back signed from Ipswich Town has been a great servant to the club for 10 years but could be approaching the end of his spell.

This could prove to be the perfect opportunity for the 18-year-old to introduce himself as a first-team player under Julen Lopetegui and push Palmieri further down the road.

It would be exciting for the supporters to see an academy product start week in week out for their side with Scarles being a prime candidate to do so.

In other West Ham, an injury twist has emerged ahead of the clash against Fulham.
