After keeping up with them on the field, Aston Villa is currently allegedly in a race with Chelsea and Arsenal to recruit a star midfield player for Unai Emery in 2025.
News about Aston Villa transfers
After making it into Europe’s top competition last season, the Villans have become a team to watch in both the Premier League and the Champions League. They wasted little time in making the most of their Champions League standing, attracting players such as Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana to make sensational summer transfers while holding onto star Ollie Watkins.
The England international eventually returned to his clinical best against Everton, scoring twice as Villa overcame a 2-0 deficit to deny Everton a first-round Premier League loss in four years. Ultimately, though, Jhon Duran’s early contender for goal of the season stole the show.
While things are still happening on the field, people in the Midlands are focused on the future. Aston Villa is currently vying with Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Souleymane Sidibe, according to Graeme Bailey of The Boot Room. If successful, Unai Emery would acquire a 17-year-old gem who seems destined for big things.
After helping to set up the game-winning goal against Plymouth Argyle from the bench, Sidibe made his first league start of the year in a 1-0 loss to Oxford United. He is already having an impact on Stoke’s first squad.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest have also expressed interest in Sidibe, so he may soon have to make a decision.
Sidibe is a “magnificent” person to watch.
Villa has admittedly welcomed back academy graduate Jaden Philogene after he made an impression at Hull City, so they are not opposed to signing players from the Championship. They may now sign a player who is exhibiting all the makings of a potential star by going back to England’s second division.
After giving the midfielder his full senior debut in a Carabao Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion last season, former Stoke City manager Alex Neil expressed his belief that this is also the case, saying on BBC Radio Stoke: “I thought his performance justified why he’s been with the first team all pre-season and why I played him in the game.”
“I wasn’t worried about him. In addition to having a great talent, he is incredibly mature for his age. He performed amazingly well and played a significant portion of the match for Stoke, who won the game, just as I had anticipated.
“I believe that most 16-year-old players could only dream of accomplishing anything like that. We had a front line that had never played together, so a lot of the credit must go to the guys. We had a 16-year-old perform in the middle of the park who was amazing, and we also had Luke McNally make his stage debut.”
