Before Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup match between Preston North End and Fulham, all the most recent injury news.
Raul Jimenez gave the Cottagers the lead, but Fulham lost a late stoppage time equalizer to West Ham to draw 1-1 over the weekend, leaving them upset. Out of their first four games, Marco Silva’s team has only lost once but only one win.
The Cottagers will now focus on the Carabao Cup, where they will play Championship team Preston North End away from home on Tuesday. Here, we summarize the initial injury reports pertaining to both teams.
Doubt by Will Keane
With a hamstring injury, Will Keane was forced to withdraw from Preston’s match against Middlesbrough over the weekend, which ended in a draw. Heckingbottom, the North End manager, clarified, saying, “Will felt his hamstring and we were not going to risk him.”
Stefan Thordarson – Doubt Heckingbottom said that Thordarson was sick and missed the weekend’s outing. When they left, a number of the Icelandic guys fell ill; it appears that a virus was spreading. We had assumed he would be fit, but he wasn’t, and it wouldn’t be worth the risk.
Layton Stewart – Doubt Stewart was scheduled to play for the under-21 team last week, but he was unable to do so because of a problem. Regarding the 22-year-old former Liverpool player, Heckingbottom stated: “Yeah, he’d just come back.” We didn’t use him because he was absent for a few days, which is unfortunate because I would have really liked to. We will use those kinds of games as part of the week for the players who aren’t starting and aren’t receiving regular minutes.
“One thing is certain: we want to ensure that each person is receiving the same kind of program and that they are in good physical condition. They must then be able to contribute and remain on the team when their turn to play comes.
Vinicius Carlos – Out
Due to a lower leg ailment, Vinicius is still sidelined and won’t be back until October. According to Silva, “He has a minor injury, a calf issue.” In around eight or ten days, most likely, he will be prepared to train with the team.
