BRAKING NEWS: Reading FC manager Ruben Selles issues a message to fans about impending demonstrations.

Reading FC manager Ruben Selles has issued a statement to the club’s fans following the collapse of its most recent acquisition negotiations.

Reading supporters, staff, and management are frustrated after Rob Couhig’s proposed deal to buy the club from Dai Yongge fell through.

Regarding potential protests, Selles stated: “We are aware that there is a consequence of a points reduction suspended if a game is abandoned. We’ve had enough with the scenario for players and technical personnel. If I could ask for one thing, it would be to not be disruptive to this bunch of players.

“For forms of protest, I admire their voice and their actions. Right now, I’ll ask that we not be penalized with point deductions or anything.

“I will tell them (the fans) to support the players at all times. We know it will be another challenging season.

“Evaluating everything, we’ve had a solid start to the season and know there will be ups and downs, but we will fight. We have clear goals, and everyone should be aware that the goal is to reach 50 points as soon as feasible.

We will have good and bad moments, and I expect them to support the players rather than themselves at all times.

“We are unable to obtain any assistance for the technical staff or players. We need a way to do things. We sometimes overpress some of the players who are not quite ready; for example, we are playing a 16-year-old lad.

“He’s a good player, a good prospect, but we’re pushing both his football growth and his thinking development so that he can deal with this circumstance.
