Finally, Wolves did not embarrass themselves at the Amex.

The first half performance was absolutely awful, but the players raised up their level in the second half and should definitely have gotten back on level terms. However, it was a disappointing defeat overall, especially for those who had traveled a long distance to the south shore. If Wolves had performed similarly in the second half as they did in the first, there would have been outrage today.

Doyle, the team’s captain, performed admirably last night, with Mario Lemina on the bench.

Fans praised the Englishman’s performance, with many believing he was the standout for Wolves amid a bad collective showing.

Those fans will no likely enjoy Doyle’s post on social media today, in which he acknowledged those who attended the game.

He wrote a 15-word statement saying, “Thank you to everyone who travelled last night. Sticking together and focused for the weekend.” Fans are unhappy with the recent setback to Brighton, particularly those who made the trek down to the Amex.

The majority of people that were featured last night have remained silent after the game. But it is commendable of Doyle to thank those who left, and such behavior is probably to be expected of him today.

He gets everything, and he’s certainly a leader, as proven by his captaincy last night.

Doyle should play more for Wolves, but he faces stiff competition from the likes of Lemina, Joao Gomes, and André. In that regard, he is possibly the most unfortunate player on the team.

It would be nice to see him against Villa, but it is not surprising that O’Neil will go for a more athletic and dynamic midfield to try to contain the home side.
