JUST IN : Teenage boy dies in crash after Swindon police chase

 

A teenage kid perished in an accident as his Vauxhall Astra was being pursued by police.

The incident occurred on the Commonhead roundabout in Swindon, near M4 Junction 15, at approximately 23.00 GMT on Tuesday.
Three other Astra occupants received minor injuries and were detained.
Wiltshire Police said it has reported itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
According to the police, the youngster died at the site, although formal identification has yet to be made.
It added in a statement: “Following initial investigations, a male in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by unsafe driving.

“Two other individuals, both female and in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.”All three are still in prison at this moment.”
Wiltshire Police reported that the A419 southbound from the Commonhead roundabout to the M4 remains closed, as does the M4 eastbound exit slip way for J15.
“These will likely be closed for much of the day so we would ask all motorists to use alternative routes where possible,” according to the department.
