JUST IN : Ex-Yankees star could be worthy replacement for Braves’

The future of starting pitcher Max Fried will undoubtedly be the greatest question point for the Atlanta Braves going into the summer.

Over the past eight years, Fried has performed admirably for the Braves; but, he is expected to cash in as a free agent at the end of the current season. Over the years, he has exceeded all the expectations of the Braves and guided the team to a World Series victory. Numerous individual honors have been bestowed upon him, like as Gold Glove Awards and All-Star selections.

Atlanta will need to sign another starter through free agency or a trade if it ends up losing Fried in the upcoming offseason. Luis Severino, a star player for the New York Mets who was once a member of the New York Yankees, may make a lot of sense if this turns out to be the case.

With the Mets this season, he has made 30 starts, has a 3.79 ERA, and a 156-to-59 strikeout-to-walk ratio. After a disappointing 2023 campaign, Severino has significantly improved and is now expected to sign a multi-year contract in free agency.

Severino will be significantly less expensive than Fried and other top starters, but his production isn’t too far from what Fried has done. The big righty is a two-time All-Star himself and is just 30 years old. If the Braves do end up losing Fried, he should be the club’s top choice in free agency to remain in contention without breaking the bank.
