Max Verstappen discusses three important reasons for his threat to leave the Formula One Championship.

The three-time consecutive world champion has threatened to leave Formula One due to a recent penalty he received “for swearing” at Singapore Grand Prix. The Dutchman is upset over the latest FIA punishment, calling it stupid and stating he is tired of everything.

In the race itself, he finished second to Norris. In the fight for the championship crown, he now leads the Briton by 52 points. Verstappen was sentenced to community service after using obscene language to describe his car in a news conference prior to the Singapore race.

Max finished his community service sentence with the stewards before the race. He skipped the previous press conference, provided brief responses, and then spoke with journalists in the F1 paddock to answer questions. That’s where he voiced his displeasure with the treatment and the reverberation it created.

“These kinds of things definitely decide my future as well, when you can’t be yourself or you have to deal with these kinds of silly things.

Now, I am at the stage of my career where you don’t want to be dealing with this all the time. It’s really tiring. For me, that is not a way of continuing in the sport, that’s for sure.”

The FIA president, Mohamed Ben Sulayem, stated on the eve of the weekend that he does not want the driver to swear and will not accept “rapper vocabulary,” which sparked a lot of controversy.

Lewis Hamilton, his fiercest adversary, sided with Verstappen. “I don’t agree with what he said or how he articulated it. The term ‘rappers’ is quite stereotypical because most rappers are black. It really points to ‘we are not like them’, so I think those were the incorrect statements, and there’s a racist element,” said the seven-time world champion.
