‘Hopefully’ – Wigan Athletic boss has share injury update of 20 years old star ahead of Exeter City clash

Wigan Athletic manager Shaun Maloney has confirmed that Manchester United loanee Joe Hugill is out of play due to a dead leg.
Wigan Athletic left the striker out of their most recent League One match, which was against Stevenage at home on Tuesday. They went on to draw 0-0, struggling to break down their opponents. Hugill, 20, moved to the Latics on a temporary basis from Manchester United this summer to gain additional experience. He has already scored three goals in eight appearances this season for the North West team.

In the most recent update on Maloney’s status, his manager has informed Wigan Today he will need to be checked on: “We’ll hear out on Friday about Joe, hopefully it’s

Not that awful. He did not train after Lincoln, who was sidelined with a dead leg. It’s just a typical dead limb, but these things can take time.”

Wigan Athletic missed Hugill against Stevenage and may use him up front against Exeter City.

It would be a disappointment if he is sidelined for the Grecians’ visit, given they have lacked quality at the top end of the pitch in their last two games.
Hugill formerly appeared for Newcastle United and Sunderland before joining Manchester United in 2020.

The England youth international has worked his way up the ranks at Old Trafford, but he is yet to make his Premier League debut.

Hugill was loaned out to Altrincham in non-league to gain experience a few years ago.

Last January, he joined Burton Albion and played 12 games for the Brewers, scoring one goal. They ended up staying in the third tier during his tenure there. What happens now?
He was signed by Wigan Athletic this summer, and Manchester United gave him permission to leave again in order to gain more experience.

He will be assessed as Maloney’s.

Men prepare to face Gary Caldwell’s Exeter City.
