Luton Town is now leading Brentford in a race to sign 20-year-old star in january transfer window

Timothy Ouma has caught the attention of both Luton Town and Premier League Brentford.

That is the latest from journalist Alan Nixon, who stated on his Patreon page this weekend that the two clubs are interested in Ouma following his spectacular goal in the Europa League earlier this week. The 20-year-old started for Elfsborg in their Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday and was their standout performer. Ouma opened the scoring after 23 minutes, arriving late into the box and firing a strong attempt past the AZ goalie.

The Dutch hosts went on to win 3-2 that evening, although Ouma scored again in the second half, this time setting up Simon Hedlund to make it 2-2.

According to Alan Nixon, the Kenyan is a standout player at Elfsborg who may be ready for a bigger challenge. He goes on to say that Ouma would be worth roughly £4 million, which is a figure that both Luton and Brentford can pay, and they should not be scared off by it.Timothy Noor Ouma: Why Nairobi City Stars wonderkid is yet to light up Swedish league - Pulse Sports Kenya

Timothy Ouma’s Background and Profile

The vast majority of Luton Town and Brentford fans are unlikely to have heard of Timothy Ouma, but he is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

The 20-year-old normally plays as a center midfielder and is proficient on both the offensive and defensive sides of the game. He likes to go forward when given the chance, as evidenced by his thunderous strike in the Europa League last week.

Ouma began his career in Kenya, playing over 50 games for Nairobi City Stars before moving to Europe and signing with Swedish club Elfsborg in July 2022 at the age of 18.Timothy Ouma Joins Harambee Stars Camp In Malawi - Uptown Radio

At first, he struggled to find game time, but this year he has established himself as a fixture in the side, appearing 17 times in the Swedish first flight in 2024.

Ouma is clearly keen to improve his scoring record, having scored his first league goal for Elfsborg earlier this month, prior to his Europa League strike that drew the attention of Luton and Brentford.

Ouma may be a clever signing for the English pair. If Alan Nixon’s estimate of a £4 million price tag for Ouma is correct, the central midfielder would be an excellent addition to either Brentford or Luton Town.

The Hatters have experienced a dismal start to their Championship campaign since their relegation from the Premier League.

So we’ll need to reinforce in January. Ouma might be a good buy for £4 million because he can provide midfield insurance while also competing for a spot in the starting 11. Ouma is used to playing in a 3-back formation as a center midfielder, thus he would be at ease with Luton’s system, as Rob Edwards has chosen a similar approach this season.

Brentford have suffered a lot of injuries this season, but they’re doing well overall. They will need to enter the transfer market in January, and signing Ouma for £4 million would be beneficial to all sides.

While the Kenyan would undoubtedly prefer to move to the Premier League, his best bet would probably be Luton because he will have more

Chance to acquire playing time and demonstrate his worth in the English game before moving to the top division.
