BREAKING NEWS : Emi Martinez sorry as Fifa bans Argentina keeper

Emi Martinez, the goalie for Aston Villa, has expressed regret for his offensive actions while representing Argentina internationally.

The 32-year-old will miss two international matches after making a vulgar gesture during one match and assaulting a TV camera following a loss with his team.

He won’t play in October against Venezuela or Bolivia, but he will be fit for Aston Villa.

“I accept the sanction of Fifa and I apologise if I offended anyone, the moment of celebration is to make many kids smile and not disrespect anyone,” he said to Instagram.

The hurt of not being able to attend this FIFA day will not stop me from supporting my friends.

“It was never my intention to disrespect anyone, nor did I understand that a gesture well received by people was offensive, but I will try not to offend anyone anymore and just focus on winning titles with Argentina and Aston Villa.”
