A thorough description…
If the Mets and Braves split a doubleheader and both proceed to the playoffs, the Braves would be the No. 5 seed and face the San Diego Padres, while the Mets will be the No. 6 seed and face the Milwaukee Brewers. If either team wins both games, the victorious team earns the No. 5 seed and will face the Padres; the losing team is automatically eliminated. The Arizona Diamondbacks would be ranked sixth and would face the Milwaukee Brewers. Getting that win will be difficult, since the Braves fell on Sunday, snapping a five-game winning streak. They’ll also have to win a game. If the Braves had won on Sunday, they would have had nothing to play on.
Monday, except for playoff seeding.
The Braves currently risk being eliminated if the Mets sweep the doubleheader.
