NFL quarterback Suspended by Fox Sports Indefinitely Following DUI Arrest

Donovan McNabb, a former NFL quarterback and current analyst for Fox Sports, was suspended indefinitely after being charged with driving under the influence last month, according to Ken Fang of Awful Announcing.

Fox told the media in a statement on Sunday that “it is important that Donovan use this time as best he can to resolve his personal situation.”

Additionally, McNabb left his position as host of NBC Sports Radio.

According to Jim Walsh of the Arizona Republic, earlier this month, McNabb was taken into custody by Gilbert, Arizona, police on suspicion of DUI following an incident that occurred on June 28.

Walsh claims that McNabb admitted to using cough medication and displayed the cough drops in his mouth to the arresting policemen.

However, McNabb’s blood alcohol content at the time of his arrest was.17, more than twice the permitted limit in Arizona, according to TMZ.com.

McNabb was arrested in December 2013 and charged with DUI; he pleaded guilty and spent one day in jail in April 2014. Nine days of his sentence were suspended as part of his guilty plea.

McNabb made a statement following his most recent arrest on his NBC Sports Radio show (via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk).

“There was a story that was released, and I want everybody to be cognizant of it, because I am very aware of it, handling the matter at this particular point,” he stated. “But at this point, I have no further information, and as we continue on with the situation, then we’ll let it handle as it will handle itself.”

Florio highlighted in a separate article Arizona law says the 38-year-old could face at least 90 days in jail for a second DUI arrest, with the term potentially extending as long as six months.

McNabb’s broadcasting career began in 2012 once he joined NFL Network. His responsibilities with Fox Sports expanded when the network announced his inclusion on a panel for Fox Sports Live in July 2013.
