If the Houston Texans want to make a run, they should seek these three players at the 2024 NFL trade deadline. With the November 5 NFL trade deadline approaching, teams are starting to make deals. The most discussed transaction was between the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders, with Davante Adams rejoining Aaron Rodgers. A less-publicized transaction included the Houston Texans, who traded Cam Akers to the Minnesota Vikings.
Akers was filling in for Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce, but now that both have returned to the team, he no longer has a role. Minnesota, on the other hand, was looking for a replacement for Aaron Jones, who had been placed on injured reserve.
Houston is no stranger to injuries, as several key players remain out. With that in mind, here are some potential depth pieces they might add by the deadline.
Tony Fields II, Linebacker, Cleveland Browns
With Christian Harris on injured reserve and Azeez Al-Shaair dealing with a knee issue, the Texans linebacker corps might benefit from some reinforcements. Tony Fields II, who is in the final year of his rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns, could be a fit. Cleveland has already traded Amari Cooper to the Bills, so they are definitely in “selling mode” with a 1-5 record. Markquese Bell, Dallas Cowboys
Dan Quinn used Markquese Bell as a linebacker in 2023, and he had some strong performances. Bell ended with 94 tackles and four pass defenses, demonstrating his ability to play well in coverage. His concern was run defense, which is why Mike Zimmer moved him back to safety after taking over.
Bell has made only four tackles in the first six games, despite playing 23 snaps on base defense and 96 on special teams. Houston already has a need at safety, and Jimmie Ward’s injury adds to the problem. Bell is not a household name, but he has the potential to be a game changer.
Bobby Brown III, defensive tackle, Los Angeles Rams

Another team that could sell before the deadline is the Los Angeles Rams, who are 1-4 this season. If that’s the case, Brown, who is due to become a free agent in 2025, may be a valuable trade piece. Brown, a huge lineman at 6-foot-4 and 324 pounds, specializes in run defense. Adding a man like that could be just what this defense needs to compete against the best teams in the AFC.
