Former Philadelphia Eagles standout Haason Reddick is ending his long and confounding holdout from the New York Jets, pulling the plug on his trade request with plans to report to New York on Monday. Reddick and the Jets on Sunday morning essentially announced that they have reached agreement on an adjusted contract. As a result, Reddick will be reporting to the team on Monday morning.
“We will continue to work towards a long term extension with the Jets,” said Reddick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who negotiated the new contract after taking on Reddick as a client following CAA’s “firing” of him. Over the decades he has been an NFL agent, Rosenhaus has built a reputation for finding deals where others have struggled. It’s why his pairing with Reddick is so interesting. Despite New York offering Rosenhaus the power to facilitate a trade, the long-time agent still has pushed the best place for Reddick to be is with the Jets
“I rarely will get into conversations we have with the team,” Rosenhaus said on FS1’s The Facility recently.. “On a more general basis, our goal is to try and work out a deal with the Jets. Our goal is to hopefully do a multi-year deal with the Jets.” So what’s the end goal for Rosenhaus and Reddick? The reality is that the Jets allowed Reddick’s representation to seek a trade knowing that the team was always going to sit in the driver’s seat.
