Okla. — STILLWATER
A dead longhorn was discovered in front of an Oklahoma State University fraternity home, prompting Stillwater police to launch an investigation.
Just before 6:30 a.m. on Friday, police called KOCO 5 to report a likely dead cow in the front yard of the FarmHouse Fraternity, which is located close to Third Avenue and Monroe Street. Officers confirmed the cow was dead when they got there.
The event is being investigated by criminal investigators. The Stillwater Police Department’s tip line is 405-533-8477. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is encouraged to call it.
FarmHouse is assisting with the investigation, Stillwater police said KOCO 5.
The incident occurs the day before the Big 12 Championship Game between the Oklahoma State football team and the Texas Longhorns.
Officials at Klahoma State University expressed their disgust at the occurrence in a statement.
In a statement, university representatives said, “Oklahoma State University is appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty that occurred overnight at an off-campus location near a fraternity house.” “An inquiry into the event has been started by the university’s Office of Student Support and Conduct, in addition to the Stillwater Police Department. Oklahoma State expects all students to follow the university’s codes of conduct, and depending on the investigation’s findings, appropriate action will be taken.
Kayse Shrum, president of Oklahoma State University, went on to say that they anticipate that the matter would be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law.
Officials from the FarmHouse Fraternity also released a statement. It is read below.
The FarmHouse Fraternity is aware of the current circumstances surrounding the dead animal that was discovered on the grounds of the Oklahoma State University FarmHouse chapter early on December 1, 2023.
“The men of OSU FarmHouse alerted authorities as soon as they found the animal, and the Stillwater Police Department is currently investigating the matter in conjunction with the OSU Office of Student Support and Conduct. Throughout the course of the inquiry, we will remain completely cooperative and supportive of law enforcement.
“We appreciate local authorities’ leadership of the investigation and ask that any questions be directed to them.”
