Arsenal want to sign ‘magnificent’ Aston Villa player who is set to be available for free in 2025

Arsenal have already begun to draw up plans for the upcoming transfer windows as they aim to fine-tune their squad to compete on all fronts.

Mikel Arteta’s side made four summer signings this summer, with Mikel Merino, Riccardo Calafiori, Raheem Sterling and Neto joining the club.

The Gunners’ goalkeeping department went through a bit of a rejig as Aaron Ramsdale sealed a permanent move to Southampton, while Karl Hein joined Real Sociedad on loan.

Neto was drafted in as a stop-gap solution after Arsenal failed to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol, with Arteta continuing to keep a close eye on the goalkeeper market.

And now, it appears as Arsenal have added another name to their shortlist in Aston Villa goalkeeper Oliwier Zych.

Arsenal interested in Aston Villa goalkeeper Oliwier Zych

Oliwier Zych might not be a household name yet, but the youngster is regarded as one of the best talents in the world in his position.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are interested in signing the 20-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

The Gunners are free to negotiate terms from January but will have to pay a tribunal fee to Villa as they played a big role in his development.

Zych is yet to make his Premier League debut for Villa but has been called up by the Polish national team on the back of his outstanding display for the U-21s.

After his performance for the young Villains against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL trophy, Bolton boss Ian Evatt described Zych as a magnificent talent as he spearheaded his side to a victory on penalties.

The report also states that Brighton & Hove Albion are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, who looks set to move on next year as he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.

Arsenal need another goalkeeper

David Raya is Arsenal’s number-one goalkeeper, but the Gunners need another quality player between the sticks to provide cover and competition for the Spaniard.

Neto can get the job done for the time being, but his loan deal is unlikely to be made permanent unless the situation changes dramatically between now and the end of the season.

Zych has earned rave reviews for his performances and is only 20, so the Gunners will be licking their lips at the prospect of signing him for a free transfer, although they will have to pay a tribunal fee to Villa if the deal goes through.
