Charles Leclerc is curious to see how he compares to Lewis Hamilton when the pair become Ferrari teammates

Charles Leclerc is keen to see how he compares to Lewis Hamilton when the two become Ferrari colleagues next season.

Hamilton surprised the Formula One world in February when he declared that he would leave Mercedes and join Ferrari in 2025. The seven-time champion will be teamed with Leclerc, who has competed for Ferrari since 2019, and the current driver is excited to see how they differ in the same car.

“I will be super curious to see what he has done right for all his career to have had all the success that he’s had,” Leclerc remarked in an interview with ESPN.

“He has very few faults; in fact, I don’t know any of Lewis’ limitations; he’s a tremendously strong driver who is always present, fast, and consistent.

“So for me it is going to be super interesting to be able to actually look at the data and know that whatever he does I can do, because we have the same car.”Yes, you learn from other drivers, but when I look at his data and see that he is significantly faster in one corner [in the Mercedes], you still wonder if my car is capable of accomplishing what he does, but there will be no question mark next year. So it’ll be massive.Charles Leclerc keen to compare with Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari - ESPN

“It will be quite intriguing for me to learn from Lewis as well as demonstrate what I am capable of in the same car with Lewis. These two things really motivate me.”

Leclerc claimed he already has a solid relationship with Hamilton and expects it to continue when they become teammates in 2025.

“We did know each other very well, and certainly since the Ferrari news, we have grown closer, but I knew him before, and we discussed our shared interests, such as music and fashion. He is an extremely creative individual, much like me.

“We don’t only discuss about racing but also with all that is surrounding; in fact, since the announcement with Ferrari, we spoke

Much more about our shared love outside of racing than racing itself, because he is still completely focused on his season with Mercedes and myself on Ferrari. But that’s okay; we have a great connection, and I’m confident it will continue. I’ve never had a terrible connection with my teammate, and while I’m sure it’ll be a competitive struggle, we’re here to work for Ferrari, and there’s no mistake about that.

“He is a huge professional, I have so much respect for him and we already have a really good relationship.”
