Harvey Blair has been reminding Fratton fans why Pompey spent so much money on him this summer.
The former Liverpool teenager, who has missed the Blues’ last three games due to illness, has shared a video on social media showcasing his attacking abilities, which should have Blues fans on the edge of their seats. The video is a compilation of clips from a behind-the-scenes Pompey friendly against Fulham during the international break. In the 64-second reel on X, formerly Twitter, the young 21-year-old can be seen displaying his undeniable skills as he approaches the Cottagers defense with pace, confidence, trickery, close-ball technique, and swagger to showcase he can truly make his imprint on this season’s Championship and put the God inspires dread in his defenders. There have already been hints of brilliance this season, with the Anfield academy product appearing seven times for Pompey
since his £300,000 move in August. However, there has been a desire for more, with six of those appearances coming off the bench. Blair’s only start was against Stoke, a game that everyone wants to forget because the Blues lost 6-1. As he seeks more regular playing time, the Huddersfield-born winger faces stiff competition. Callum Lang, Josh Murphy, Sammy Silvera, Elias Sorensen, and Paddy Lane are all competing for positions in the Pompey attack. However, with the Fratton Park outfit trying to make their imprint in the second division so far, Lang is perhaps the only nailed-on
starter. Pompey’s next game is on Saturday at Hull. Blair will be eager to be involved. And if he exhibits some of the tekkers he showed against Fulham in training this week, his inclusion will potentially offer the spark that John Mousinho’s side so needs as they languish at the foot of the table.
