‘One hundred percent’ – Portsmouth favourite’s vote of confidence in team-mates ahead of Blackburn and Millwall games

Pompey pulled out of last place with a win over Preston North End, and their top scorer is optimistic they can build on it.
Callum Lang, Pompey’s outstanding player this season, feels his Fratton Park teammates are more than capable of achieving the heights required to ensure their Championship safety. Lang leads the Blues’ scoring charts this season with four goals, and he appears to have acclimated to second-tier football quickly.

Not everyone in Pompey’s ranks adapted as swiftly to the higher expectations placed on them following their promotion from League One as league champions in 2023-24.

But the former Wigan man is certain the team has the Championship quality to make their imprint in the division – as demonstrated in the previous games versus

Hull and Plymouth, plus a 3-1 victory over Preston North End on Saturday. When asked by BBC Radio Solent on Saturday if he believes his teammates can fulfill the standards he has set, Lang replied: “One hundred percent.” We showed it in patches at the beginning of the season. One hundred percent' - Portsmouth favourite's vote of confidence in team-mates ahead of Blackburn and Millwall games

‘The trouble is that it has to happen every week. We’ve demonstrated multiple times that we can compete with large teams like Leeds and Middlesbrough at the start of the season. Few teams will go there and take points.

And Pompey fans will be pleased to hear that the forward is convinced he can keep it up as the season progresses.

He continued, ‘I’m enjoying my football. Obviously, the gaffer believes in me. I play 90 minutes on a regular basis owing to the entire crew who works with me every day.

‘I believe I know what I can accomplish at this level, and I want to do it consistently. It’s still early in the season, but I’m confident I can maintain my performance and help us stay in this division.
