Wolverhampton Wanderers are apparently considering a move for an ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender.
Wolves are exploring the potential of signing Bayern Munich centre-back Eric Dier this summer, when he becomes a free agent. The former Tottenham player made 15 Bundesliga appearances last season, but has only played 141 minutes in all competitions this season. Dier was an opportunistic signing for Bayern, who took him on loan before making him a permanent member of the club after his contract with Tottenham expired. Dier has practically been a reserve this season, therefore he is unlikely to be offered a contract extension after his current expiration date of June 30. As a result, the 30-year-old will be available to talk with interested parties beginning in January.
TBR Football Reports Wolves are among several Premier League clubs looking to sign Dier to a pre-contract agreement this winter. Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are two more English clubs thought to be interested in adding depth and experience to their defensive squads. There is competition from across the pond, however, as a number of Major League Soccer teams are interested in Dier. If the ex-England international believes his best days are behind him, a move to the United States could be appealing.
Dier made 49 appearances for the Three Lions between 2015 and 2022, giving him plenty of top-level experience. The defender was a frequent starter at EURO 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, but he also had two substitute appearances. during the 2022 World Cup. He has also appeared 36 times in the Champions League.
