A former Portsmouth player has urged Liverpool to secure a Southampton deal. He even cast shade at the Saints in his assertion.

Southampton are adept at accepting defeat. In fact, it would be worrying if they weren’t, given their current position at the bottom of the Premier League. However, it will take some time to recover from the most recent defeat against Liverpool

Southampton were arguably the better team in the Premier League match played at St Mary’s Stadium. In fact, they lead the game in the second half before defensive blunders allowed Liverpool to fight their way back into it, eventually grabbing three points from Southampton.

Following the match, Liverpool were urged to sign perhaps Southampton’s finest player of the day.

Former Portsmouth player Tim Sherwood praised Tyler Dibling in an interview with Optus Sport’s The Weekend Wrap. However, he does not believe Dibling will stay long and predicts the 18-year-old to be Liverpool’s next star.

In his own words, Sherwood stated that “[Tyler] Dibling is the man, this boy, he’s playing against their feeder club.” He will most likely be Liverpool’s next signing. I’m not sure when that will be; he’s only 18 years old, but he’s ready to take the next step; you can already tell there’s a star in the making.”

However, hopefully this is a relic of the past. For the time being, Southampton should focus on retaining their best players. After all, they have long-term aspirations that can only be achieved with the finest players in the team.

Tyler Dibling is only 18 years old, yet he has received a lot of acclaim from past professional players. Without a doubt, it is in Southampton’s best interests to keep him, but achieving so is another issue.

Southampton has been warned several times this week to keep Tyler Dibling away from big clubs. However, we can only presume that Dibling is currently focused solely on playing for Southampton.
