JUST IN : Rotherham,First Half target proves Another Loss For Millers

Rotherham United fell to nineteenth in League One following Saturday’s one-nil loss against Crawley.

As has been the case this season, the Millers got off to a good start, with Joe Hungbo forcing a save from Town goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott. At the other end, some great play from the hosts created a chance for Ade Adeyemo, but he shot over the crossbar. A long pass from Millers’ goalkeeper Dillon Phillips found Hakeem Odoffin, whose pass hit the head of captain Jonson Clarke-Harris, who forced a corner, which Joe Powell sent in again, finding his skipper, who forced Wollacott to make a good save. A foul on Will Swan resulted in a free kick for the home side.Ronan Darcy collected it and sent it straight into the Millers’ wall, clearing before a number of set-pieces for both sides failed. On twenty-one minutes, a wonderful cross from Toby Mullarkey found Swan, who had far too much room, and the Town player shot into the net from close range, leaving Phillips little chance to give Town the lead. Osong moved into a terrific position with Clarke-Harris sending a ball in for him, but Charlie Barker got to it first to clear, and a Cohen Bramall cross meant for Odoffin went justOver the defender’s head. The hosts had another chance as Darcy crossed to Tola Showunmi, whose shot went past the upright, before Darcy’s attempt was blocked by the Millers defence. On forty-three minutes, Jeremy Kelly found Max Anderson, who saw his shot from outside the box saved by Phillips.

In the second half, the Millers made two changes, replacing Joe Hungbo and Cameron Humphreys with Christ Tiehi and Alex MacDonald. Max Anderson received his first yellow card of the game for a poor challenge on Hakeem Odoffin, and the resulting free-kick saw Sean Raggett flagged offside. Esapa Osong did well to get the better of Toby Mullarkey, who then brought him down, earning his second yellow card of the game. MacDonald curled the free-kick in, but the only person.
The coaching staff was also given a yellow card. Rotherham brought on Jack Holmes for Shaun McWilliams shortly after the hour mark, while Crawley’s Tyreece John-Jules replaced Tola Showunmi. In his debut action, John-Jules won a free kick, which Max Anderson sent to John-Jules, who then forced a good save from Dillon Phillips. The Millers applied pressure, resulting in three corners, all of which were taken by Joe Powell, before Crawley cleared. More changes for Rotherham included Jordan Hugill and Ciaran McGuckin replacing Johnson Clarke-Harris and Esapa Osong, while Ade Adeyemo making way for Benjamin Tanimu for the hosts. A MacDonald cross directed towards McGuckin saw the Irish striker not quite able to turn it into the goal, which

Holmes then did some rapid work, sending the ball into the box, but it was stopped by a Crawley player, and the following corner came to nothing. Crawley made three substitutions, bringing in Rafiq Khaleel, Jack Roles, and Gavan Holohan for Ronan Darcy, Will Swan, and Panutche Camara. Showumni sent in a great ball for Tanimu, but he shot over when it appeared easier to score, before Bramall’s brilliant run down the wing saw him deliver a super ball into the area that neither Holmes nor McGuckin could reach – if they had, it would almost certainly have been the equaliser. Wollacott saw yellow in the last five minutes. Another chance for the hosts, Holohan sent the ball.

skywards over the crossbar before Holmes beat his marker and placed the ball on Joe Powell’s foot, who shot wide at the other end. Sean Raggett received a yellow card for a foul on Holohan as the board went up for an additional six minutes. During additional time, Bramall fired in a cross that was comfortably held by Wollacott, and a cross from MacDonald for McGuckin saw the young man miss his footing, leaving the score at one-nil for the hosts.

Another away loss, although the Millers had chances during the game, but there is nothing thrilling on the pitch for Rotherham fans right now.

Another relaxing weekend next weekend—if only for the long Miller’s supporters are hurting.
