LATEST UPDATE :Sheffield Wednesday make move on 5 managers as Danny Rohl replacement

Danny Rohl has been Sheffield Wednesday’s manager for 13 months. However, it is unclear how many more months he will be in S6.

Following Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday’s remarkable escape, Championship rivals Hull City and Sunderland were connected with him over the summer.

Instead, Rohl signed a new contract with Sheffield Wednesday, securing his future at Hillsborough for another three years.

On Tuesday, however, BBC pundit Rob Staton stated Rohl would be a ‘perfect fit’ for Leicester City after the Foxes fired

Steve Cooper. Why Leicester City have sacked Steve Cooper after just 12 league games in charge

There is no official link as of yet. However, it will be a source of concern for Dejphon Chansiri, as will any empty position near the bottom of the Premier League or Championship.

Here we look.

There are five out-of-work managers who the Owls could seek if Rohl is hired by Leicester City.
Steve Cooper
Cooper, who left Leicester City after only five months, is perhaps the most apparent and immediate candidate.

The Welshman is well-known for his exploits at Championship level, having led Swansea City to consecutive top-six finishes before taking the Nottingham Forest position in 2021. He later led the Reds to promotion to the Premier League and established them in the top division, paving the way for Nuno Espirito Santo’s present success.

Alex NeilAlex Neil makes further mockery of Sunderland exit excuse with recruitment comment - Sports Illustrated Sunderland Nation
Another experienced former Championship manager is Alex Neil, who has led Norwich City, Preston North End, Sunderland, and Stoke City.

The Scot recently played for Stoke City, when he was let go in December 2023 after 22 wins in 66 Championship games.

He has been promoted from League One with Sunderland and to the Championship with Norwich in 2015. Tony Mowbray
Tony Mowbray is another seasoned Championship manager who succeeded Neil at Sunderland in 2022.

Mowbray is now recovering from intestinal cancer, but plans to return to the dugout in the future.

Given his record, he’d undoubtedly attract suitors. Mowbray accomplished an improbable top six finish with Sunderland in the 2022/23 season after previously winning EFL promotions with West Brom and Blackburn Rovers.

Mark RobinsMark Robins: Shock at Coventry City manager's sacking - BBC Sport
Mark Robins is a name that does not need an introduction. The long-serving former Coventry City manager was fired earlier in November, much to the chagrin of supporters.

The former Manchester United striker is best known for leading Coventry from League Two to the Championship play-off final in just seven years.

His Coventry side were always a difficult club to play against, as Wednesday discovered on four times last season, and he has recently established himself in the Championship.

Steven SchumacherSchumacher shortlisted | Plymouth Argyle - PAFC
Steven Schumacher is another name who has lost his Championship job this season, as well as being fired by Stoke City.

His Potters leave appeared severe. Schumacher had 13 wins in 32 games (40.63%), having previously kept Plymouth Argyle in the second tier after leading them to promotion from League One.

The former Bradford City and Bury midfielder had a really attractive and lively style of play when at Plymouth and could easily take over a similar Sheffield Wednesday team.
