The defensive lineman has spent the majority of the 2024 season on the practice squad. FLOWERY BRANCH, GA— The Falcons added defensive lineman Demone Harris to the active roster from the practice squad, the organization announced Friday.
Harris has appeared in three games this season after the Falcons chose to elevate him from the standard practice squad. He has three tackles, one for a loss, and a quarterback hit in those games. The defensive lineman has multiple years of NFL experience, beginning with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. Overall, Harris has 14 tackles, three for a loss, four quarterback hits, and one pass breakup in 17 games.
Atlanta is looking for more aid in pressuring the quarterback, and Harris has been successful at times this season.
This follows the Falcons’ release of offensive tackle Jovaughn Gwyn on Thursday. Atlanta also added kicker Riley Patterson to the practice squad and dismissed safety Dane Cruikshank on Friday afternoon. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris described Patterson’s signing as a “emergency” move following Friday’s practice in case Younghoe Koo, who is uncertain for Sunday, is unable to play. As of now, however, all indications are that Koo will be able to play through a right hip injury, and Morris feels “we’ll be fine” in that regard.
