Following Matt Eberflus’ stunning dismissal last weekend, the Bears are still looking for a replacement. Several names have been linked to the position, including Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions and Joe Brady of the Buffalo Bills. However, according to NFL Network, Kliff Kingsbury, the current offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, is the greatest prospect to become the Bears’ next head coach.
The former Arizona Cardinals head coach’s arrival in Chicago would come as no surprise to many, considering Klingsbury worked as an offensive analyst for the USC Trojans during Bears rookie sensation Caleb Williams’ last season of college.
Kingsbury’s Coaching Experience
Although he is only 45 years old, Kingsbury has 17 seasons of coaching experience. At the age of 29, he was assigned to quality control for the University of Houston’s offense before being elevated to offensive coordinator two years later in 2010.
His experience in Houston won him a transfer to Texas A&M in the same role. His work was essential in the growth of Johnny Manziel, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Kingsbury later attended Texas Tech, where he stayed six years. years with the Red Raiders, from 2014 to 2016 under Patrick Mahomes His first NFL opportunity came as Arizona’s head coach, where he spent four years. During his tenure with the Cardinals, he coached 66 regular-season games and finished 28-37-1, losing only one postseason game.
