Southampton manager Russell Martin will be without three crucial players for the next Premier League encounter against Chelsea.

Southampton scored points against Brighton in their most recent match. Southampton will now host Chelsea at St Marys Stadium, less than a week after their last game.

Three key Southampton players are suspended for the Chelsea clash.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Flynn Downes, and Tyler Dibling were all given their fifth yellow cards of the season against Brighton, thus all three players will now miss one match for Southampton.

Unfortunately, Russell Martin will be unable to field all three players against Chelsea. It is a significant blow, and Southampton must play their weaker options in the appropriate spots.

Southampton’s starting lineups have been quite stable this season. Russell Martin has a specific group of players whom he clearly values.

Without a doubt, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Flynn Downes would have begun the match against Chelsea. They have been regulars in the Southampton lineup this season, and the latter, especially after scoring his first Southampton goal, would have deserved another start.

Tyler Dibling has not been a guaranteed starter this season. However, when given the opportunity, he has never failed to deliver. In fact, he’s getting closer to starting week after week.

So, while Southampton will be disappointed to have missed out on three crucial players, they still have the ability to build on their momentum. It will be a difficult task against an in-form club, but they cannot let selection concerns prevent them from scoring points.
